The Advantages of Workers’ Compensation Insurance

Workers' Compensation Insurance

If you are the owner of a business, you need to make sure your business has all the correct insurance to protect it in case something goes wrong. Part of this coverage should be a workers comp insurance policy. Workers’ comp or workers’ compensation provides coverage for employees who get injured or sick while on the job. This type of insurance can be immensely beneficial for your business and should absolutely be considered.

What Does Workers’ Compensation Cover?

If your employee is injured or becomes sick while working, workers’ compensation can cover a variety of the costs associated with their injury or illness. Some of the things covered by workers compensation are:

  • Medical expenses like surgeries, prescriptions, and emergency room visits
  • Missed wages so your employee can take time off to recover
  • Ongoing care for injuries that require multiple treatments
  • Funeral costs if one of your employees loses their life on the job

Exceptions to Workers’ Compensation Coverage

While workers’ compensation can provide coverage for a wide variety of incidents, there are some things that are not covered. One exception is if your employee is injured while they are intoxicated. Additionally, employees that intentionally hurt themselves are not covered by workers’ compensation.

Running a business can be hard. Having a good workers’ compensation policy can make a huge difference.
